It is with great regret that we pass along the news that Kathy Dyer passed away.
1955-2021
It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Kathryn Anne (Kathy) Dyer, who departed on her final voyage on December 13, 2021.
Kathy is survived by her sister Nancy (Rudi), stepdaughter Lindsey (Todd), grandchildren Tegan, Owen, Emmett, and Noam, her nephews, and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Colin Jacobs, her parents Joe and Marny Dyer of Scarborough, and her stepdaughter Tracey.
Kathy was well-known and respected in the international sailing community for her years of service on racing committees and juries, and was recognized as an International Judge in the racing world. Residing in Hamilton, she was active for decades with the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club and was significant as a mentor and an instructor to many, especially women, following in her footsteps.
We will all miss Kathy deeply but look forward to catching up with her at the next anchorage. We would especially like to thank Dr. Jordan Lafranier, resident Emily, and the staff of St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton, for the loving and compassionate care that Kathy received in her last days. Special thanks also to her devoted friends Bonnie and Christa for their unwavering support and help over many years.
